I can’t remember where I saw it, but I saw someone with a halo braid like this one and I thought that it looked really cool! So I tired to do it, and it turns out, it’s really easy to do! I uploaded a picture of me wearing this hairstyle on my instagram, and I got like a ton of likes, which made me feel like some instgram queen! So I thought I’d do a little tutorial/How To type thing..

I used some Toni & Guy sea salt spray, which actually makes your hair taste of salt! So this added a bit of texture to my hair so it was easier to handle, you can use any texture type spray, or nothing at all!

Once you’ve decided if you’re going to use any product, you just get a middle parting, plaid each side like you used to when you were a kid! Good times! And then take the hair band out, and pin each one to the top of your head! Simple! When you are putting the plaid on your head, you’ve got to kind of adjust it a bit, and make it so it lies against your head nicely.

This is a really quick and easy hairstyle, and the best bit is you don’t have to keep adjusting it and making sure it’s still intact throughout the day! I hope you give it try, I can’t wait to see everybody in halo braids!

So I haven’t posted in awhile, not gonna lie, I’ve just been plain lazy! But the sunshine is out here today, and it is making me feel so summery! And there are a couple of sunrays peaking through my window, so I thought it would be light enough to take some photos! Hopefully the quality isn’t too shabby.

Anyways, I bought these Topshop Boots yesterday, I’ve had my eye on them for a couple of weeks now, and I was just going to try them on, and of course I ended up buying them! They are so nice though! They are soo comfy, and I can’t walk around in heels to save my life, but these look so much higher than they actually are, because of the platform! So I can also walk around in them, which is helpful!

The other new purchase, is this dress, from Voulez Vous which was a brand in Debenhams, just stumbled across it! I have seen so many check, collared dresses that I thought I would jump on the band wagon, and  join in! It’s so nice this one, it’s got a velvety texture so it’s so soft! It joins the bodice and skirt, in just the right place, to pull you in at the waist and skim over my stomach, and hips nicely!

The last product I thought I would include in this post is the watermelon shorts. Primark has some really nice spring shorts and jackets in at the moment, with some really cool prints! I saw the watermelon, and just melted a little, had no idea what the hell I would wear them with! But £10 well spent I think! They’re actually really good quality for Primark! There’s binded seams on the inside, that don’t feel like they’re going to fall apart as soon as you touch them! So jump on the crazy prints this spring!

Touch of Silver Update

Photo on 23-10-2013 at 13.18

I’ve nearly made it through half of the bottles of the Touch of Silver Shampoo and Conditioner so I thought I would update you on my progress so far. I haven’t been using it twice a week every week, but I have used it quite a bit. This is a picture of my hair before I had the Touch of Silver products, and when I had long hair! As you can see, it’s got a slight yellow tinge to it, which wasn’t ideal, but I think the Touch of Silver products have definitely made a difference!

Photo on 20-02-2014 at 14.07

Here you can see the top layers of my hair, which are the lightest anyway. And there is definitely a difference in colour, it’s so much lighter. It’s made a vast improvement on the yellowiness. I have had highlights in my hair, but the original picture is not dissimilar from my natural hair colour, but the Touch of Silver products have definitely brightened it, and made it more.. blonde!

Photo on 20-02-2014 at 14.07 #2

I think I might come to regret posting this picture of my beautiful roots! But I think it shows the results much better. The bit where it goes from the mousey brown in the roots to blonde used to be a really yellowy colour, but it’s not so bad now. I think if I keep using it, that will improve even further. I left to highlights to grow out for so long, I think I might just leave it until I get natural ombre hair colour!

The products themselves are really good quality, the conditioners make my hair feel so soft. As I’m used to using a really light conditioner usually, it feels amazing to have such silky smooth hair. My hair has become much more manageable, it’s not static anymore and it feels a lot thicker, and just generally much healthier. So I would definitely recommend these products, I was a bit apprehensive at first, as it does look like you’re about to use ink as shampoo, but it’s totally fine I assure you! I was worried about colour build up, which I bought the daily maintenance shampoo and conditioner, which have optical brighteners in, which probably helped with everything. And as you can see, my hair isn’t purple, so definitely works!

There is also a dry shampoo that Touch of Silver offer in their product range, I don’t really rate dry shampoo anyway. It just makes my hair feel more greasy and heavy with product, also it doesn’t smell that great. And the shampoos and conditioners smell lush!

How I can afford Clinique Makeup on a Student Budget

IMG_4686IMG_4697

Clinique shimmering stripes powder blusher – £5.99

If you’ve ever had the money to afford Clinique Makeup you’ll know how amazing each one of they’re products are. I love Clinique, it’s amazing quality it’s just a shame it’s so darn expensive! But never fear, I have found a way! I first found this product in my mum’s make up bag, kindly been donated to me! It’s a sample size product, but wait… it has lasted me so long! At least a year. The powder is so pigmented you don’t need to use much at all, which makes it last so long. I use this for contouring on my cheeks, the lightest powder is great to highlight your cheek bones, and on your brow bone. The middle stripe looks like it would be quite rosy, which I was slightly worried about, as the last one I had was in 03 Almond Blossom, and this one is 01 peony. However, it comes out really nice, as you can see in the picture it contours under the cheekbone perfectly, and the shade is really natural. The last stripe I don’t use as much, but in the Almond Blossom it was quite pink so I used it as normal blusher. You could use this one for that as well, or as a deeper colour for contouring. I’ve been wearing the powder all day, and it’s still clearly on my face and still doing the job!

The only thing that I don’t like about this product is that the stripes are quite difficult to get to individually, as you have to squish your brush into a thin line. And the powder goes everywhere! I’ve tried to find a bigger pot of this product, but have had no luck. But I think this size lasts long enough, and is so cheap. It’s on Amazon for £5.99, which is cheaper than some blushers in Boots, with Max Factor costing £6.99.

Head over to my Instagram to see the comparison of old and new of these little pots!

Sheinside Check coat

Sheinside Floral Bomber Jacket

New Look Skirt

Eminem Rap God T-shirt

Primark Shoes

At some point today, the clouds parted and it was relatively sunny in Manchester today and nicely lit up my room for some lighting for a blog post! I got so excited that it was sunny I even put a skirt on, which comes out in a funny colour in these pictures, it’s not quite as garish as that in real life! But anyway, I recently received my order from Sheinside.com, which took forever to arrive! So I thought I would blog about both the bomber jacket and the check coat at once. Sheinside has such good prices for the products they have, the only thing I would aware of is the quality is not amazing. The bomber jacket is slightly small across the shoulders and the sleeve length, and I had to trim loads of loose threads off it when it arrived. The coat feels really thick, and is so comfy and warm, and it does have an ASOS label in it… But one of the pockets has already ripped.

Regardless of where it’s from, and how long it took to arrive I love the coat. I haven’t bought a patterned coat before, usually I just stick to the plain dark colours, so it’s really nice to try something new. And it goes with a lot more that I thought it would. As with the bomber jacket, I really wanted a bomber jacket, and I wasn’t sure about getting one with a pattern but I’m so glad I did. I wear it all the time, and I can’t wait to wear it in the summer!

The T-shirt shirt is the result of late night online shopping at it’s finest! I was on Facebook at ridiculous o’clock and saw a post about some limited edition Eminem T-shirt that would only be on sale for 24 hours. And for some reason I bought one! It cost £23 including shipping which was £11, as it was from America I guess. This is a women’s large, kind of wish I had got a men’s size now as I wanted it to be looser fitting, but ah well! It has the lyrics from Rap God on it, which I thought would be a little bit more noticeable, but are non existent in the pictures!

Music // Makes things better

I downloaded a whole bunch of music to motivate me to go to the gym, and found some proper gems! So I’m back from the gym, nice and sweaty, ready to write this post! I find most of the music I listen to from the radio, or from friends recommendations, as I was looking from upbeat, motivational music I also found some just good chill out, feel good music. Bit of a mix this time, so let’s get to it.

The first one is literally always on repeat on my laptop, I love it. It reminds me of warm summer evenings at festivals, or at BBQs with friends, or at the beach. Just a really feel good song! There’s also a really cool remix by FlicFlac, which is soo good as well! Definitely worth checking out

New Look Pants

Asda Jumper (similar)

Asda Top

This week has been busy! First week, back with lectures, and trying to find a house for next year! Which means house viewings! So exciting! Anyways, that’s why I haven’t posted much lately, but there you go. I bought these trousers in the New Look sale last weekend, from £22.99 down to £7! I was so happy! They’re kind of like disco pants, but more matte, so I’ve worn them out, and they look alright during the day too! I can dress them up for the night with a peplum top, or wear them with a quite grungy look, like today. I love this outfit! It’s so comfy, and the colour of the trousers is just awesome! They’re quite a thin material, so really accentuate my muffin top! So I don’t like wearing them with a low cut top, as it’s not a pretty site! But other than that, they’re really comfy fit, like a really thin, stretchy pair of jeans.

So, I’ve left this bit about the top and jumper until last, mainly because I actually got them from Asda! I literally have no shame when it comes to getting clothes at low prices! To be honest though, I love this jumper and I love the fact it was from Asda, as it only cost about £14! I’ve seen much worse, and much more expensive in high street shops! This jumper and top have lasted me a good 6 months so far, so the quality is a lot better than I thought it would be!

River Island Jumper

River Island Jeans (Similar)

Primark Shoes

New Look Necklace(Similar)

H&M T-shirt

I know I haven’t posted in a while, so I thought I would do a quick outfit post before I go shopping! So, I really like this jumper, it’s so comfy and not at all itchy. It has massive square holes knitted into it, which gives it a really nice texture, and means you can mix up the contrast of colours, depending on what you wear underneath. The only reason I don’t wear it that much is because the fit is so frumpy, I feel really fat in it, and the sleeves could be a little bit longer. But these jeans, I love them. I always get my jeans from River Island, as they’re consistently such good quality. But the price of them have gone up recently, I used to get a really decent pair for £40, but now the decent fit and quality is in the £60 pairs. Which isn’t great! 🙁 But these jeans have lasted ages, and I think they’ve still got plenty of life in them yet!
