The women in Deadly Descent know how to kick ass Loved them all and I know that the next book in the Bagram Spec Ops series is about Ryan and Candace Ace I really liked their banter and I m already on pins and needles to read their story.
I m not a military expert, therefore I cannot say if the operations in this story are authentic But it certainly reads realistically, and since Kaylea is such a Spec Ops addict, it goes without saying that she did a great job with the research for her new series As it was, I especially loved the main and very long action part of Deadly Descent It was simply outstanding, and I believe the book title fit perfectly The action and tension kept me on my toes, that s for sure Also, war is not pretty, so please be prepared for some gory scenes.
Subsidiary censureCam and Devon s romance could have been developed Though I have to assume that it was difficult to fully develop their relationship romance because of the length of this book Hence, I think the book should have been longer Devon said onceI admire the hell out of all of youVery true and I can t say it any better Every enlisted man woman deserves our appreciation.

Devon is a med evac pilot and an officer when she makes a call to turn back due to bad visibility , which she later finds out was for her ex boyfriend Pararescueman PJ Ty, she feels incredibly guilty because of that and also the feelings she has for his friend Cam Once his funeral is over, Cam confronts the issue head on and acknowledges the attraction he has for her and that it is not wrong but Dev isn t ready and he doesn t want to push.
Cam is one the sweetest hero I ve read, he s an alpha and kick ass, his job is dangerous but he s so understanding with Dev, he doesn t make light of her need to think, space and even the fact that he is enlisted He calls her mam when people are present and doesn t do anything that would harm her career.
Dev on her part knows what she feels for Cam is than hormones and he may be the one and once she is ready there is no stopping her.
We of course have a sub plot with a guy recruiting people to avenge his brother s death by Americans but the book on the whole was very well written There was a good blend of romance and depiction of a military base and operations ARC received through Netgalley As his family left the graveside Devon stood there, rigid in the cold, staring at her ex boyfriend s coffin I m so sorry, Ty So very sorryDeadly Descent is the first book in the Romantic Suspense series, Bagram Special Ops by Kaylea Cross, and it s also my first experience with this author s writing I was excited to read this story because the central characters are not who we typically see in this genre SEALs, Rangers, Black Ops Agents, etc rather these men and women are working on the medical side of things I found it to be a very fascinating story from this standpoint alone and was thrilled that Ms Cross gave us such a deep look into their lives and missions I had absolutely no idea what they faced at any given time, and I while I hold the greatest respect for all military men and women, I now have a deeper respect for those whose job it is to save the lives of the SEALs, Rangers, Black Ops Agents, etc.
, and who put their own lives on the line to do so Without their know how and their bravery, who knows how many men and women would be lost.
I absolutely loved our hero and heroine, Cameron Munroe and Devon Spike Crawford who are brave, honorable people Cam is an Air Force Pararescueman whose job it is to go into dangerous situations and provide medical aid to those wounded in the line of duty, or those innocents caught in the crossfire What he does out there can make the difference between life and death Dev is a Black Hawk pilot who also goes into dangerous situations to evacuate those wounded and transport them back to the base hospital for further medical care As with Cam, how well Dev does her job can mean the difference between saving a life or losing one.
Minor plot spoilers that are given in the prologue view spoiler As this story opens, Devon is called out on an emergency mission to evacuate some wounded soldiers, however flight conditions are at their worse and she has to make the gut wrenching decision to return to base without the men But what choice did she really have She wasn t the only person on that Black Hawk she had her crew to think of, too She s upset, angry and second guessing herself for abandoning the flight, and that only gets worse when she learns that one of those men died before he could be extracted And for her, worse yet that man was her boyfriend, Ty.
Ty and Cameron had been best friends, so the loss was especially devastating for him and only complicated by the fact that from the first time he d met her, Cam had known that Dev was the one for him And he also knew that Dev felt the same way because their mutual attraction was undeniable Of course they never acted on their feelings they were too honorable for that, but Cam had waited long enough and decided it was time to broach the very sensitive subject Unfortunately, Dev was not ready hide spoiler Love is like war easy to begin but very hard to stop by Henry Louis Mencken Tech Sergeant Cameron Munro is an U.

What a fantastic and riveting read Loved it Can t wait for the next book Kaylea, your Alpha males, are so deliciously sinful they make my toes curl This is how I picture Cameron What a fantastic and riveting read Loved it Can t wait for the next book Kaylea, your Alpha males, are so deliciously sinful they make my toes curl This is how I picture Cameron I am not going to go into detail about what the book is about as the synopsis does a good job of that and there are plenty of reviews out there that gives detail.
I have never read a Kaylea Cross book before so didn t really know what to expect I had seen quite a few raving reviews about this book and I had had it for quite a while but hadn t got around to reading it but as soon as I started the first chapter I knew that I was going to enjoy the rest of the book I immediately tuned into Kaylea s style of writing and was gripped from start to finish she provides so much military detail that a lot of authors tend to skip over I will admit at times I had to stop and think what was she talking about and on a few occasions even grabbed my phone and hit the internet to find things out, but that didn t detract from my enjoyment of the book in fact it increased it that extra detail helped me to try and visualise the scene and what could possibly be going on Due to daily life I was forced to stop reading several times but continued to think about it and couldn t wait to pick it up again and carrying on reading and I ended up staying up into the early hours of the morning as I was gripped and just couldn t put it down I really liked Devon, she was a strong and very brave woman who had fears and insecurities which made her character believable Cam was a sexy hero who would do anything to save the woman that he loved even if that included dying himself What I really liked about this story was that Devon and Cam had declared their love for each other before the mission went sour In most stories the H and h continue to hide their feelings for each other right until the end All of the men featured were super fit and super sexy and I am so looking forward to reading Ryan s story.
In my opinion this book fully deserves the top rating of 5 stars and if you are looking for a book that is about military men and is full of suspense, romance and a lot of sexual tension then this is the book for you and I am definitely rating Kaylea Cross as one of my RS authors According to Kaylea s website March 2012 she is in the process of writing the second book in the series and has a working title of Danger Close Unfortunately there is no expected publication date yet ARC kindly supplied by Carina Press via Netgalley I must give special thanks to UniquelyMoi Dhestiny for recommending this book.
Story Rating 5 HUGE starsCharacter Rating 5 HUGE starsRomance Rating 5 HUGE starsAction Rating 5 HUGE starsSexual Tension 5 HUGE starsOverall Rating, not enough stars in the world to give OMG This book was so spectacular, I still have tears running down my face and I can still feel my heart pounding from this book, just AMAZING.
This book grabbed me right from the start and never let go I absolutely LOVED all the characters in this story The first half got you all set up with the characters and just what they did and how they lived while serving our country in the military It also set up the romance part of the story and I really felt the connection big time between Cam and Devin The sexual tension was off the charts The second half, the action started and oh my I was just riveted to the pages I m sitting here shaking my head because I just can t explain how fantastic all of this book was for me.
We did not get a love scene until the end of the book but I ll tell you what, it was worth the wait As I read it I really felt the love leaping off of the pages and it just took my breath away and made me so emotional because of the love I felt while reading it OH MY, I m tearing up just writing about this.
Needless to say if you have been thinking about reading this book, what are you waiting for I m sure you will love it as much as all of us lucky one s who have already had the pleasure of reading it.
Well done Kaylea Cross you have just made a HUGE fan of me I can hardly wait for the next book in this series to be released It will be a must buy and must read as soon as it s out I bet it won t be long before I read all the other book s you ve released to date Thank you for writing such a fantastic story for all us romance book lovers.
Having always come across rave reviews of books by Kaylea Cross, I was than prepared to delve into a story which I knew would hit all the right spots And I am glad to report back that it certainly did hit all the right spots and then some with my very first Kaylea Cross which turned out to be the first book in her Bagram Special Ops series which hit the stands on the 5th of this month.
Captain and pilot commander Devon Crawford known as Spike amongst her friends and team mates faces the biggest dilemma of her life when she finds herself yearning for her boyfriend Ty s bestfriend Cam Munro From the first moment she had laid eyes on Cam, she had felt unsettled and the guilt of it all makes her pretty uneasy around his company though Cam had become one of her closest and trusted friends over time.
Technical Sergeant Cam Munro is a pararescueman in the U.
S Airforce When his best friend Ty gets killed in active duty in the mountains of Afghanistan, it is Devon who takes his death the hardest not because she grieves for the man she loved but rather because she feels the guilt that is associated with her feelings towards Cam.
Though Cam respects Devon s need to distance herself from him, Cam is playing for keeps and is not willing to go down without a fight to win the love of the woman who means everything to him But with the strict military rules that prevent members of its forces from fraternizing coupled together with Devon s need to work through her muddled feelings at her own pace, Cam who is patience personified finds himself tested severely as slow torturous inch by inch Devon starts to respond to the depth of need that Cam doesn t want to hide any longer.
With heady adventure and military jargon that I found myself lost in sometimes, Deadly Descent is a novel that is as realistic as they come in depicting the different sides involved in the war on terror that jumpstarted with the 9 11 attacks on the US soil.
Kaylea Cross s voice and prose is certainly an addictive one, easy to lose onself in though I sometimes wished for a glossary of certain terms used in the story For someone who hails from a small country where the need for a super active military is at a minimum, I found myself a bit lost at times But then again, the adventure aspect of the novel is fast paced which makes it hard not to bite your nails in apprehension wondering what would happen next and how and why a certain mad man is hell bent on getting his revenge and vengeance by killing Cam and and Devon amidst the the warlord s agenda which is a bone chilling one.
Kaylea Cross has certainly done her homework on the aspects of the Islamic religion that is discussed in the novel and that earns a lot of respect from myself as a muslim The fact that Kaylea explores the impact of a war that seems to make lesser sense as the casualities on both sides seems to grow sat well with me as I delved deeper into the story.
The way Kaylea puts forth her characters is one reason that makes Deadly Descent so readable Even the villains are muti faceted, not just a character created for namesake but rather a character that makes ones hairs stand at end because yes, the vicious and practical plan that he has in order to bring the US forces to its knees is a deceptively simple and a chilling one at the same time.
That brings me to Cam s character who is so darn yummylicious in his own right Laid back yes he is, but once he sets his eyes on Devon and wows to make her his, there is no stopping him from staking his claim and wooing her all at the same time My disappointment because there wasn t much romance towards the latter part of the book was totally forgotten from the moment Cam and Devon lights up the sheets and practically left me breathless throughout the encounter Kaylea definitely knows what she is doing with her ultra yummy alpha heroes and the military plus the adventure aspects of the novel which makes it a winner all around Momentous ScenesThe first time Cam confronts Devon about their feelings towards each other Such an emotion invoking scene The helicopter crash scene Utterly horrifying because it was so darn realistic The sexual tension between Cam and Devon throughout the novel Definitely the toe curling variety right there.
My Quotes included below the review Rating 4.
5 5 original review posted on MBR s Realm of Romance OMG OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK This was my first military romance and Kaylea Cross book, it will not be my last This story was non stop, a wonderful romance, it had me crying, scared and swooning I loved the hero and heroine in this story, they were both tough, brave, caring, I immediately felt connect to these two I actually liked all the characters in this story, I would welcome a book about any of them The heat level is pretty low in this book, but the sexual tension and the chemistry between these two is off the charts I wanted them to get together, yet I was afraid they would get caught Devin is an officer she a pilot and Cam is an enlisted man Pararescue Jumper I love it when i can connect with two characters in a book, i get swept up in the story, I am happy when they are happy, and sad when they are sad And if someone is trying to hurt them I want to kiss their butt I don t have to tell you that is exactly what happened to me reading this Kaylea Cross is a very talented writer and she now has one fan A very good romantic military suspense My only complaint is it s a little light on romance Other then that I really liked it Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Deadly Descent is the first book in KC s Bagram Special Ops series featuring Black Hawk pilot, Devon Crawford and Air Force Pararescueman, Cameron Munroe As a helicopter pilot, Dev s missions involve transporting a rescue team and bringing the wounded back to safety and much needed medical care Cam s job often finds him on the ground and in the thick of things as he provides medical care for those wounded in the line of duty Both encounter dangerous situations as their work takes them into enemy territory One of the best things about this book is how well the author portrays the bravery, loyalty and dedication from not only the soldiers but the rescue and medical teams as well I came away even humbled by the sacrifices that are given to ensure a better world for all Action, suspense along with two very lovable MC s and a beautiful love story all combine to make this a fantastic read The tension and anxiety I felt during the second half kept me fully invested and I hated to put this book down The unique situation affecting Cam and Dev s relationship, along with being in the midst of a war, all added to the sizzling chemistry and heartfelt longing existing between this couple This is my second read by this author and as most already know, this is Romantic Suspense at its best And while RS is not my usual choice of genre, I m now anxious for.
Deadly Descent was the first in a series and the characters introduced interest me a lot.
