The Bride Wore Red Boots is the second novel in the Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys contemporary romance series from author Lizbeth Selvig Amelia Crockett is the oldest among her sisters and has always been the one who had a plan and stuck by it When her plan for career advancement doesn t go her way, a return to Wyoming becomes exactly what she needs, providing support for her still recovering sister Joely as well as needing the support of her mother and sisters, even though she didn t really realize it was something she already had There s also Gabriel Harrison with whom she has an almost adversarial non relationship, but things surprisingly improve between them and soon they become allies that begin to have feelings for each other If there was one couple well suited for each other, it would be Mia and Gabe.
After Mia s career plans are put on pause and Gabe s experimental project involving eight former military men suffering from post traumatic stress disorder is threatened to end up in limbo, things vastly improve between the two They re both focused individuals but behind the seemingly ambitious personas they present, they both have very caring hearts, especially when it comes to Mia s family and Rory Beltane and the men who are part of Gabe s project I loved these two together and they definitely inspired one another to think outside the box and realize that there s so much that they can offer one another and the people around them Even with their growing attraction and feelings toward each other, I appreciated that there was no rush to intimacy, but instead, we see them making their way through various stages of it.
The Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys series is quickly becoming one of my current favorites, with each new addition leaving me happily satisfied while eagerly awaiting which Crockett sister gets their story told next and with whom they ll end up with Author Lizbeth Selvig has proven twice over that she s able to create individual love stories for each sister while still being able to keep the theme of family an integral part of it Just like with Harper Crockett and Cole Wainwright s, Mia Crockett and Gabe Harrison s love story left me with a heart thumping happily and a smile on my face Theirs was a story that proved that life doesn t always go as planned, and often than not, that can be a very good thing, almost like a blessing in disguise I adored The Bride Wore Red Boots and I hope you will too This second book gets five stars.
Dr Amelia Crockett S Life Was Going Exactly The Way She Had Always Planned Until One Day It Wasn TWhen Mia S Career Plans Are Shattered, The Always In Control Surgeon Has No Choice But To Head Home To Paradise Ranch And Her Five Younger Sisters, Cowboy Boots In Tow, To Figure Out How To Get Her Life Back On Track The Appearance Of A Frustrating, But Oh So Sexy, Former Soldier, However, Turns Into Exactly The Kind Of Distraction She Can T AffordEven Though Mia Can T Stand The Sight Of Him, Gabriel Harrison Has Never Returned The Sentiment He Can T Seem To Resist Teasing The Gorgeous Doctor Who Pushes All Of His Buttons And The Searing Hot Kisses They Share Are Turning Him Inside OutAs She Begins To Work With Gabe, Helping Former Vets Recover From Severe PTSD With The Aid Of Some Wild Mustangs, Mia Finds Herself Becoming Like The Person She Used To Be She Never Expected To Alter Her Life Plans, And Definitely Never Expected To Fall For Anyone, Least Of All The Handsome Gabe But Fate And Some Lucky Red Boots Have A Way Of Changing Things As Their Lives Become Complicated, Will Mia And Gabe S Love Be Enough To Smooth The Way To A Happily Ever After Heart warming family Hard working and in denial Main characters ,evolve and discover the depths of what home, family and love is about I didn t know if I liked the eldest Crockett sister, Amelia aka Mia, from the first book She came off as very goal oriented and high strung Did she know her stuff as a doctor, most definitely but as a warm caring personnot so much.
Here we find Mia back in NY, at work and get filled in a little as to what goes on in Mia s world Rory, sweet 10 yr old little boy, whom Mia met when she treated his mother A mother who became hooked on prescription drugs and then had the misfortune to develop cancer while in jail Rory brings out the human side of Mia and turns her into someone you can root for.
Now Mia is planning on getting a surgical residency that will enable her to fulfill her ultimate goal of getting the dream job.
but when time comes her no nonsense approach to doing things bites her in the behind They are not only looking for a strong doctor but a compassionate one One who could rally the troops and be a great leader Mia has never been known as the soft and cuddly type so.
there slips away the last step to her ultimate goal Now what Back home, on a semi forced vacation, Mia starts to find herself again Gabe Harrison, whom we know from the first book, is the patient advocate that drove Mia crazy every time and anytime she tried to get information on her sister s Joely s medical condition, benefits, or treatment Now thoughwith her life in the unknown she let s him in and learns, maybe he s not such a PITA after all She meets his merry band of misfits, Veterans that has issues and he s come up with an experimental program to see if he can get them back on track Mia bonds with them and teaches Gabe that maybe working with animals, in particular wild mustangs, might be the way to go with these tough cases.
At any rate, things happensome tragic some just a part of life But in the end we get our HEA It s not a safe journey or even a all the time happy one They go through bumps and bruises that every relationship gets from time to time it just teaches them about themselves and what it is they want from one another A good story that I well enjoyed and now am looking forward to reading Joely s story She s the sister involved in the horrible traffic accident that started the bonding between the sisters.
The Bride Wore Red Boots Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys 2 by Lizbeth Selvig is just as wonderful as the first book in the series was There are feisty girls, sassy women, hot cowboys, a merry band of military misfits and of course a WONDERFUL HEA that will make you cry, make you cheer and make you count down the days until book 3 This is Mia and Gabe s story.
Mia is a top notch surgeon, top of her field, published, accomplished, practically perfect Every goal she sets she gets, nothing stands in the way of Mia When a little boy, Rory, is in the hospital and begs her to find his beloved cat, the cat that he cannot have because he is in foster care, she will move heaven and earth to help the boy When the dream job that Mia has been practically guaranteed is given to someone else, and she is asked to take time off to regroup, she figures that now is the prefect time to head home, what she does not count on is the feeling and banter that she finds with Lt Gabriel Harrison.
Gabe knew that Mia was than what she seemed all those months ago when she went over is head, spared with him and fought so hard for her sisters care He knew that under all of that stiff and strong exterior was a soft, scared, and sexy woman When Gabe asks Mia for help finding the vets in his experimental group a project before they close the program, Mia is the first one there to lend a hand, and when Rory s mom dies, leaving Mia as his guardian, Gabe stands by Mia and has her back, helping her care for the scared little boy.
When the dream job might just be coming back around, and Mia s time in Wyoming coming to an end, Gabe will need to pull out all the stops to convince Mia that they were meant to be together, meant to raise Rory together, meant to be a family, before it is too late.
I loved this story The Vets and their pranks has me laughing out loud, Rory and his little cat Jake were so sweet, and I found myself crying for the little boy Mia and Gabe has chemistry to spare and sparks flew when they were in the room I loved their banter, and they joking and then poking at each other I loved the connection that they forged and the love and friendship that would carry them through this story and beyond I really look forward to the next book in this series and recommend this a sweet end of summer read.
After Amelia Crockett plans for becoming a surgical doctor in NYC fall through, she is left feeling disappointed and not sure what to do, her only option is to return home to Paradise Ranch Her plan is to spend some time with her family and hopefully also gain some perspective as to what life path she should follow next Returning home also means putting herself in close proximity to former soldier Gabriel Harrison, which is quite unsettling for herGabriel Harrison is a former soldier who finds his time is now best served helping fellow vets suffering from PTSD He has also been helping out the Crockett family, and has been keeping Dr Amelia Crockett updated on her younger sister s physical therapy status via email and phone He has been taking great pleasure in irritating the good doctor long distancebut now that she is returning home all bets are off.
This was another wonderful addition to the Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys series, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Gabe and Mia s story Their heated banter had me smiling like a fool the whole way through, and blushing a few times too I can t wait to see what Ms Selvig has in store for the Crockett family next ARC requested through Edelweiss, and kindly provided by Avon Impulse Publishing in exchange for a honest review.
What a wonderful, funny, heartwarming romance Mia Crockett is a surgeon living in NY, driven and a bit hardheaded Gabriel Harrison is a patient advocate who has been helping Mia s family in Wyoming after Mia s sister is badly hurt in an accident Mia and Gabe butt heads and drive each other crazy at first, but when Mia suffers a setback with her dream job and returns to Wyoming, they realize that there are sparks lurking beneath all their squabbles What follows is than a love story, as Gabe struggles to help some army vets gets past the trauma of war, and Mia is doing all she can to help Rory, a young boy in NY who is in foster care As Mia and Gabe get to know each other better, their defenses and the walls they ve built up to protect their hearts start coming down All of the characters are so well written Mia s large family, the vets under Gabe s care, and even the ranch in Wyoming becomes a character in this book This book is book 2 in the series Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys, and I can t wait to read the rest
It was ok, the story was good and the characters were well developed I liked that they had flaws and weren t always super likeable But there were some editing things that just got under my skin A heard of horses, and Mia circled her mare Penny, but then dismounted from a horse named Chevy Maybe this isn t the genre to be reading since I am picky about stuff like that, but it really spoils a book for me.
The Bride Wore Red Boots,a good readThis book didn t hook me at the very beginning,it took awhile.
But once you get into it, there are a lot of characters, and some of them are real characters It s a family story with lots of older sisters,a few Veterans, and a little boy.
It is well written and the last chapters are wonderful while keeping you in suspense as to how it will end.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
